Crocheting for a Baby Photo Shoot

My nephew and his wife sent me a photo of a pattern asking if I could crochet the outfit for their newborn’s photo shoot. Of course the pattern cost $5.99 and I refuse to pay for patterns so I scrounged around to try to replicate the same look.

I simply refuse to pay for patterns so I adapted a pattern for baby pants by adding suspenders. I liked the top ribbing which is created with the front and back post stiich. This is a free pattern.

The pants were easy and quick to make because they use a 5.5 mm hook with thicker yarn, not thin baby or sport yarn. However, I chose a silky baby yarn with a size 4 mm hook for the suspenders and the tie. The tie is another free pattern, of course.

I made up the brim on the hat by combining a few patterns.
